Overview
Alexandria “Alex” Arias is an attorney with Jimerson Birr whose path to the law has run through competitive athletics, business leadership, and the classroom. She was born and raised in Miami, the youngest of five children of immigrant parents who built their own company from the ground up. Watching them grow that business taught her early on what clients put on the line, and why they need advocates who understand both the legal stakes and the business realities behind them.
Alex earned her Associate of Arts degree while still in high school at the School for Advanced Studies. She went on to New York University as a Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar, a recognition of her community work teaching self-defense classes to women. That work grew out of her seven years as a competitive mixed martial arts fighter. At NYU she double majored in English Literature and Mathematics, a pairing that shows in her practice today: careful, persuasive writing built on rigorous analysis.
Before law school, Alex built a career in sales leadership. As a district manager, she ran an online sales office and was ranked regionally as the top new district manager during the COVID-19 pandemic. She later taught fifth grade for a year while applying to law school. She then earned a full scholarship to the FIU College of Law, choosing to stay in Miami to be near her family while they faced medical challenges. During law school, she was a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert N. Scola, Jr., then a Senior United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida, at the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. United States Courthouse in Miami. Clients benefit from the mix of skills she brings: a competitor’s discipline, a manager’s results-driven focus, and a teacher’s ability to explain complex issues clearly.
Outside the office, Alex is an avid reader and traveler who has visited more than 20 countries. She speaks Spanish and is a classically trained pianist with more than 12 years of rigorous conservatory study. She also played saxophone for eight years, two of them with a nationally recognized orchestra that competed at the national level.
