Overview
Elliot Watts is an Attorney at Jimerson Birr, where he serves as ongoing counsel to business clients and supports the firm’s financial services and litigation practices. He advises businesses on corporate matters, including intellectual property and real estate, as well as employment, contracts and collections, and operational policies and processes. On the financial services side, he represents credit unions and other creditors with a focus on judgment enforcement, collections, and strategic advisory. He joined the firm in April 2025.
With both a JD and an MBA, Elliot brings legal precision and financial insight to matters where the margin for error is thin. His career spans an elite law firm, a federal clerkship in Jacksonville, and investment banking. He has served as counsel and deal architect on transactions exceeding $1 billion and has advised public and private companies on matters ranging from corporate governance to debt restructuring.
Clients value Elliot for his strategic mindset, his calm under pressure, and his ability to translate complexity into actionable insight. He has been recognized by the National Black Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 attorney in Georgia, and he serves on the boards of the Georgia Legal Services Program and the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta.
Elliot earned his B.A. in History from Yale University, his J.D. with honors from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he concentrated in Finance and in Marketing and Operations Management and served as a Communications Fellow and teaching assistant in negotiations. His global perspective draws on fieldwork in Liberia and South Sudan, studies in Paris, and a world tour with the Yale Whiffenpoofs.
