Jimerson Birr Partner James Birr Inducted Into University of North Florida Athletics Hall of Fame

Jacksonville, Fla. – October 31, 2013 – The law firm of Jimerson & Cobb, P.A., is proud to congratulate its partner, James O. “Joby” Birr, III, on his recent induction into the University of North Florida Athletics Hall of Fame. As a member of the Hall of Fame Class of 2014, Birr is recognized for his baseball career with the Ospreys from 1992 to 1995. He was named UNF’s first NCAA Division II All-American in 1995.

In playing more than 200 career games, Birr batted .353 in 51 games during his senior season, collecting seven homeruns, 41 RBIs along with 12 doubles, three triples and 25 stolen bases. His stolen base total ranks third all-time in the baseball team’s single season records, while his name is also listed among the Top 10 in several career statistical categories. Birr was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in June 1995.

“I am honored to be selected for induction by the UNF Athletics Hall of Fame,” Birr said. “I was fortunate to play on great baseball teams during my time at UNF, to have a coach that pushed me to be the best, and to have parents that were very supportive. I am proud to be a fonner UNF athlete and a part of a great tradition.”

Birr is a member of Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2011 and is a multi-year winner of the Florida Super Lawyers Rising Star award.
