- The Florida Bar in 2025
Overview
Details matter. This phrase best encapsulates Daniel C. Self’s approach to the practice of law. As an Attorney with Jimerson Birr, Daniel’s exacting precision and commitment to excellence gives clients an edge both inside and outside of the courtroom. With a relentless work ethic and an infectious competitive spirit, Daniel quickly established himself as an integral part of Jimerson Birr’s Complex Litigation practice group. Daniel works on a variety of commercial litigation matters, including class action litigation; premises liability; and data breach litigation.
A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Law, Class of 2025, Daniel’s extracurricular involvement included serving as Editor-in-Chief of the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology and as a Certified Legal Intern for the Economic Justice Clinic. In Fall 2024, Daniel accomplished a decade-old goal when his article, “Surveilling Big Tech: Navigating Censorship Concerns and Consumer Protections in Florida’s Digital Bill of Rights,” was selected for publication in the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology, Volume 25. Prior to joining Jimerson Birr as a Summer Associate in Summer 2024, Daniel spent Summer 2023 interning with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Daniel rejoined Jimerson Birr as an Attorney in Fall 2025.
Daniel completed his undergraduate education at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where both of his parents were alums. Daniel graduated summa cum laude as a J.N. Andrews Honors Scholar in Spring 2021. During all four years at Andrews University, Daniel devoted his free time to The Student Movement, Andrews University’s official student newspaper, serving as a Staff Writer, Editor, and finally, as Editor-in-Chief. These experiences developed Daniel’s painstaking attention to detail and devotion to sound analytical writing, in addition to his pragmatic understanding of what is required of leaders managing complex organizations.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Daniel’s time at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill solidified his decision to settle down in the Southeast. Daniel has since found a home here in Jacksonville, where he enjoys fishing, dirt biking, and walking his two dogs, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, named Winston, and a Miniature American Shepherd, named Feyre, with his partner and best friend, Grace Overholtz.
