Overview
Curtis Campbell focuses his practice on complex commercial disputes and distressed business matters, where financial instability, breakdowns in control, or insolvency threaten enterprise value. He represents businesses, lenders, investors, and fiduciaries in high-stakes litigation involving creditor enforcement, bankruptcy, Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors, and related asset-recovery issues. Curtis is often engaged when early intervention and strategic litigation are necessary to stabilize a situation, preserve assets, or create leverage toward resolution or an orderly wind-down.
Curtis has significant experience litigating complex commercial matters in state and federal courts, including disputes involving contracts, business torts, construction issues, and insurance coverage. His prior work includes insurance coverage litigation addressing whether businesses were entitled to coverage for COVID-19–related losses, including participation in the landmark multidistrict litigation In re: Society Insurance Company COVID-19 Business Interruption Insurance Coverage Litigation (MDL No. 2964). That experience informs his current work involving insurance as a potential recovery asset in distressed and post-bankruptcy contexts.
In addition to his litigation practice, Curtis has handled transactional and advisory matters supporting business operations and acquisitions. His experience includes drafting corporate governance documents, letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, and real estate contracts, as well as conducting legal and regulatory due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and investments. He has assisted with transactions involving multi-state assets, including the acquisition of a multi-use property in New York and the acquisition of a Florida-based company by a publicly traded corporation.
Curtis is an active member of The Florida Bar and serves as the moot court coach at Jacksonville University College of Law. During law school, Curtis earned Top Brief honors at the National Emory Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition in consecutive years and served as President of the Legal Aid Society.
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Curtis earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University, where he served as vice president of the mock trial team and competed at the national level. Outside of his practice, Curtis enjoys golf and hiking with his family and spends his personal time reading and working on writing projects.
