Overview

Curtis Campbell is an experienced litigator who thrives in high pressure situations. His experience includes catastrophic commercial litigation, construction litigation, and class action litigation. In addition, Curtis’ prior experience involved determining coverage related issues pertaining various insurance policies, including whether businesses received coverage for COVID-19 related losses in the landmark case, In re: Society Insurance Company COVID-19 Business Interruption Insurance Coverage Litigation, MDL Docket No. 2964.

Curtis also has experience with transactional matters, including drafting documents of incorporation, letters of intent, memorandums of understanding, and real estate sales contracts. Further, Curtis has conducted due diligence on matters such as litigation, compliance with state and federal law, classification of employees, and current contracts. Most recently, he assisted with the acquisition of a multi-use property in New York, and an acquisition of a Florida based company by a publicly traded corporation by conducting due diligence on legal, financial, tax, operational matters.

An active member of the Florida Bar, Curtis is also active in its Young Lawyers Division. He currently serves as the mock trial coach for the Ribault High School mock trial team. When needed, he also assists with the mock competitions at Jacksonville University College of Law by acting as a scoring judge.

During his time at Belmont University College of Law, Curtis won Top Brief awards at the National Emory Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition in back-to-back years. He also served as the President for Legal Aid Society.

Curtis was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. While at MTSU, Curtis was the vice-president of the mock trial team, where they were runner-up at the national competition.

In his down time, Curtis enjoys playing golf and hiking with his family. While he spends most of the work day reading and writing legal documents, he also spends his personal time listening to audiobooks and authors his own projects.

    • Participated in Federal Multidistrict Litigation to determine whether businesses received coverage for COVID-19 related losses
    • Reviewed updates on insurance law throughout the United States to provide advice to national insurance carriers on the potential impact on the insurance field on a weekly basis
    • Assisted with the drafting of insurance contracts by providing recommended language that clearly conveys the intended coverage in compliance with the state and federal law
    • Developed PowerPoint presentation on common pitfalls in bad faith litigation
    • Spoke at an assembly concerning the impact of COVID-19 on the insurance industry

    Commercial Litigation

    • Engaged in class action lawsuits pertaining to windshield litigation and employment classification of insurance agents
    • Successfully defended an international manufacturing corporation in a stream of commerce lawsuit involving multiple deaths through motion practice
    • Handled catastrophic commercial litigation involving multiple parties in a factory incident where employees lost their lives and settled at mediation well below client’s expectations
    • Handled lawsuit against broker-dealers based on alleged fraudulent recommendations of certain bonds

    Mergers and Acquisitions

    • Assisted with the acquisition of a multi-use property in New York by reviewing due diligence documents
    • Key member of a team that secured a definitive agreement for a Florida based company to be acquired by a publicly traded corporation
    • Worked with client to conduct due diligence on potential acquisitions and the impact of improving property during the COVID pandemic pursuant to city, state, and federal law
