Overview
Emma Schambach is an attorney with Jimerson Birr, where she represents clients in business litigation, regulatory matters, employment disputes, and other general litigation matters. She has a particular interest in administrative law and the intersection of municipal governance, regulatory compliance, and business operations. She focuses her career on helping her clients preempt their need for her litigation skills by providing proactive guidance and helping businesses in a variety of industries navigate the regulatory and legal world as they grow, expand, and thrive.
Before joining Jimerson Birr, Emma served as a Federal Judicial Intern for the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, where she supported chambers in both civil and criminal cases. She also completed an externship with the Cary Town Attorney’s Office in North Carolina, where she advised on municipal contracts, planning and zoning, statutory interpretation, and real property issues. In addition, she gained experience in complex financial industries litigation as a Litigation Assistant and Executive Legal Assistant and supported trial preparation, pleadings, and motion practice across multiple practice areas prior to attending law school.
Emma earned her Juris Doctorate, with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law. While in law school, she served as Chief Articles and Notes Editor for the First Amendment Law Review, Research Assistant to two professors, Vice Chair of the UNC Honor System, and President of the UNC First Generation Professionals. Emma is also proud of the time she spent with the UNC Law Veterans Law Clinic where she had the opportunity to represent her veteran clients in their appeals with the VA. She was even given the opportunity to argue novel legal arguments under new statutory law and administrative guidance and obtained a sizeable recovery for her client.
In addition to her Juris Doctorate, Emma holds both a Master of Arts in Communication Studies with a focus in corporate and organizational communication and public advocacy and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she graduated summa cum laude in both programs. She is a proud 49er.
Outside of her legal practice, Emma enjoys volunteering with youth and mentorship-focused programs such as 4-H and Boys and Girls Club. She is also an avid adventurer who loves to travel, visit national parks, hike, rock climb, white water raft, surf, and most of all ski! She brings the same energy and commitment to excellence that define her adventurous pursuits to her work as a trusted legal advocate and dedicated advisor for her clients.
